About the Collection

The Michigan State University Archives & Historical Collections (UAHC) collects, preserves, and provides access to the University’s historical records, as well as historical collections that support faculty and student research and classroom instruction. UAHC maintains all permanent records of Michigan State University regardless of format.  The collections include topics such as the administration of MSU, campus buildings and grounds, student life, faculty research, curriculum, and academic colleges and departments. Descriptions of the collections can be found by searching UAHC’s website or by using MSU Library’s catalog.

Visiting and Using the Collection

The reading room is open to the public Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Wednesday from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.  Any updates of operating hours can be found on the UAHC website. Presentations to groups are by appointment and can be arranged by contacting UAHC by phone or email (archives@msu.edu).
